![]() You will not make friends and other digital operators will no Will "blank out" the entire PSK portion of the band, and nobody else will see anything on the waterfall except your Power? You don't need more than 20-25 watts to talk around the world. Signal that will spill over onto your fellow hams thereby ticking them off big time. If you were to overdrive the audio, regardless of what you set power to on the radio, you will produce a wide, distorted This is much better than just letting the audio drive be high, and setting the power in the radio to 10-20 watts. Watch actual power output via a known quality power meter. If you see ANY ALC, back off until it just disappears. ![]() Starting at zero audio drive from the computer, gradually increase the audio output slider in Windows, or in yourĭigital program watching power and ALC. Set power on the radio to 100 w, that is, full power. The best way to set transmit is best understood if you know audio, "headroom", etc. There is a post by in in the archives from February of this year asking about setting up the digital modes and someone gave me a step-by-step. But once you get either of them going then it should serve you well. Perhaps the antenna or propagation just aren't cooperating with you? Are you in front of the radio right now?īe warned it may take a bit to set this one up too. How many watts does it say you are putting out? If you are getting garbled text with half of a call sign then it sounds like everything is working. The call sign is KD9AFO.Īnother quick question for you. I was calling about 8pm central last night and for the last hour and a half on 20m PSK31. The meter says I am transmitting, but is it actually transmitting anything useful. No, I haven't tried the free version of HRD, and I am truly not opposed to paying for the full version if it works better than fldigi. The biggest complains are lack lf support for alternate lifestyles.er.operating systems and the fact that it is a bit bloated (true). Have you tried the free version of Ham Radio Deluxe? Both programs get good reviews here but I prefer HRD myself. To see if you are actually transmitting anything switch to the PO meter on your radio (Top left "METER" button that scrolls through SWR/ALC/PO) adjust the Power with the volume slider on your computer. I've been reported plenty of times on bands I have never transmitted on. If the receiving station changes bands then it will report on the current band. What mode were you calling in and what time was it?Īs for the reports on bands where you weren't that's just a glitch in pskreporter. ![]() I don't hear the radio transmitting when the audio is set to the USB device. The radio does switch over to transmit as I can see it go from RX to TX, but I don't know that I am transmitting anything. ![]() Worse, I called CQ a number of times on 20m this morning, it still says I haven't been heard from in 14 hours.even after an hour has passed. It says my station was heard from 14 hours ago, but on it shows me in bands and modes I wasn't transmitting on. I tried to see if any signals have been received. ![]()
